Does agentic commerce work for services?

Yes. Shopping agents can find and compare services, then prepare a booking or quote. To do that, they need to understand what the service includes, where it is available, which conditions apply and how the price is determined.

An example with installation

A customer wants a washing machine delivered and connected. Offer A is cheaper and includes delivery to the front door. Offer B includes delivery to the installation site, connection to existing plumbing and a Saturday slot. The agent can explain the difference if the merchant provides those exact terms.

Which details should I publish?

  • Scope. What does the provider do, and what does the customer need to prepare?
  • Coverage. Which postcodes and types of property does the provider serve?
  • Price and conditions. Is the price fixed? Which details are needed to give a firm quote?
  • Appointments and changes. Where can availability be checked, and how can the customer reschedule?

If timing or price is still open, the agent can prepare an enquiry with the required details and explain what the customer is waiting for. Start with a frequently booked service that has clear conditions. Test a request outside the service area and a slot that someone else has already taken.
