GEO stands for generative engine optimisation. It is the work of making a page understandable and useful as a source for generative search answers. SEO helps search engines find, interpret and show relevant pages in search results. Both start with useful content that search systems can access.
What would I change on a shop page?
Take the question “Which suitcase fits in the cabin if you count the wheels?”. Put the outside dimensions including wheels and handle on the product page and explain how they were measured. Link to the exact variant when sizes differ. Make the details readable in HTML and keep them consistent with the structured product data. Explaining how the case was measured is more useful here than publishing another page with slightly different keywords.
Google points to the usual search fundamentals for AI Overviews and AI Mode. OpenAI provides separate controls for search through OAI-SearchBot and model training through GPTBot. Check that the server or CDN allows the request as well as checking robots.txt.
How do I check visibility?
Pick a handful of real questions about fit, what is included or spare parts. For each test, record the date, country, language, search interface and the source that was linked. Then check separately whether visits to the destination page can be measured. A citation in an answer and a visit to the shop are two distinct outcomes.
